Wegovy is Novo Nordisk’s brand of semaglutide, approved for weight management. It is a weekly injection, and FDA-approved — Tier A.
Wegovy and Ozempic are the same molecule. The difference is the approved use and the dose: Wegovy is approved for weight management and goes up to 2.4 mg weekly; Ozempic is approved for type 2 diabetes. Same drug, different label.
What the studies found. In STEP-1, adults on weekly semaglutide 2.4 mg lost about 14.9% of body weight over 68 weeks, against 2.4% on placebo.[1]
Two variants exist: Wegovy HD (a 7.2 mg pen) and oral Wegovy (a tablet, approved late 2025). Both are priced separately from the standard pen.
The list price and the cash price are very different numbers for Wegovy — see the cost calculator and list price.
