Mounjaro

Also known as tirzepatide · tirz

Brand — tirzepatideEvidence tier A

Mounjaro is Eli Lilly’s brand of tirzepatide, approved for type 2 diabetes. It is a weekly injection, and FDA-approved — Tier A for that use.

It is the same molecule as Zepbound, which carries the weight-management label. Weight loss on Mounjaro is an off-label use of a diabetes drug; the weight-management evidence was gathered under the Zepbound label.

What’s reported as a downside. A 2024 FAERS analysis of the GLP-1 class found metabolic and gastrointestinal adverse-event reports — nausea and vomiting most commonly.[1] FAERS reports are voluntary and cannot prove cause.

Unlike Zepbound vials, Mounjaro’s self-pay price does not change by dose. See the cost calculator.
