BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound 157) is a lab-made peptide — a short chain of amino acids — sold online as a healing compound. It’s built from a small piece of a protein found in human stomach fluid. It’s the most talked-about peptide in the recovery space, and it’s usually sold next to TB-500.
In rat studies, researchers found BPC-157 helped a surgically cut Achilles tendon heal.[1] In lab-dish studies, researchers found it helped tendon cells move and survive.[2][3] A 2025 review of BPC-157 research screened over 500 papers and found dozens of animal studies but no completed human trial for tendon, ligament, or muscle injury.[4] A separate 2025 review reached the same conclusion.[5]
No study has tested BPC-157 on a human tendon or joint injury, including a finger pulley (A2 pulley). Its strongest human-relevant evidence is for stomach protection — a different question entirely.
On peptide forums like MESO-Rx and LongeCity, users report mixed results for tendon and joint pain — some describe fast relief, others say it did nothing.[6][7]
An analysis of 106 community self-reports, shared on X, found that about 55% of users said their target problem improved, while about 17% said they got worse overall. Users on Reddit’s r/bpc_157, r/Peptides, and r/TBI also describe heart palpitations and emotional blunting (anhedonia) that some link to BPC-157’s effect on dopamine pathways. These reports are unverified, and gray-market testing has found some BPC-157 material as low as about 55% purity, so a reported side effect may reflect an impurity rather than the peptide itself.
